Day Six of the Worlds

By Larry Hodges

If you read the news items on the Men's Team Semifinals (don't miss this!) and the Women's Team Final, you know that today was an exciting day. Additionally, the USA Men's Team played their last team match, losing to Brazil 3-2.  They finished 40th, probably their worst showing ever, but it was partly due to playing younger players at the end to gain experience, and (even more so) due to the absence of Cheng Yinghua (unable to take time off from his coaching schedule) and Todd Sweeris (injured during the USA Team Trials and had to drop out). The USA Women's Team did better, finishing 20th. (40th and 20th - two easy numbers to remember.)

Singles and Doubles start tomorrow, on Sunday, April 29.
