2002 U.S. Nationals

Dear Players, 

Welcome to Las Vegas, my new hometown! I would like to thank you all for coming to Las Vegas and supporting USA Table Tennis. The 2002 USA Table Tennis National Championships promises to be a great tournament!

First, I would like to thank Margaret Smith for her years of hard work and dedication to USA Table Tennis. Her tireless work on the Nationals and U.S. Opens over the past years have made them the premier table tennis events they are today. Also, I would like to thank her for her friendship, guidance, and patience. She has taught me everything I now know about running a great and successful tournament. Margaret, we will all miss you greatly!

A big thank you goes out to our tournament sponsors Butterfly and Nittaku, and to our clothing sponsor Table Tennis Pioneers, for their committed help and support.

Lastly, many thanks to all the hard-working volunteers who have taken time off of work and used their vacation time to be here to help us with this tournament. And, for those who helped in the preceding months leading up to the Nationals, with time-tables, draws, schedules, and all the other work you did, I also thank you.

I wish to express my appreciation for the Headquarters’ staff who help me tremendously with the organization of the event. They all come here and work endless hours with little or no acknowledgment, truly going beyond the call of duty. I ask that you please take a moment and thank each of them, for without them this tournament would be impossible to run.

Once again, thank you for coming to Las Vegas and have a great tournament!
