2004 Coach of the Year Applications

The USOC gives out Coaches of the Year for each Olympic Sport in four  categories: National, Developmental, Volunteer and "DOC" Counsilman Science Award. (The "DOC" category is new.)  The USATT Board of Directors will nominate coaches for the USOC from the applications received.

Winners receive both recognition and a very nice USOC Coach of the Year Plaque. The award winners from each sport also become eligible for the USOC Coach of the Year.

Below are the forms for the four categories, plus the Narrative Form which also needs to be filled out. Please fill out the forms entirely or the application might not be considered. 

• Coach of the Year - National
  A coach of an Elite level club, Collegiate, Pan-Am, World Championship or Olympic Games coach or the coach of an elite athlete who competes at the highest level of your sport.
• Coach of the Year - Developmental
  A coach of a Youth Club, High School or Junior level athlete or a coach directly responsible for coaching athletes to the National or Junior national level.  They can receive payment for services.
• Coach of the Year - Volunteer
  A coach who does not receive payment in any form for his/her involvement in coaching at any level. The nominee should actively be coaching youth athletes.
• Coach of the Year - "DOC" Counsilman Science Award
  A coach that utilizes science, medicine and/or technology as an integral part of his/her coaching methods or has created innovative ways to integrate sport science into coaching.
