ITTF Ranking Penalty Policy for No-Shows

The ITTF has adopted a penalty system in their ranking system for players who enter ITTF events but do not show. A list of permissible reasons for withdrawing or not showing without penalty is part of the system.  The basic policy is that players who do not show and have no permissible reason for not doing so will lose ranking points as if they lost their first match; the opposing player, however, does not gain points.
