VISION

Improve USA’s competitive status internationally and to provide support services for the development of Olympic/Paralympic table tennis athletes.

 

MISSION

Facilitate, communicate and promote the opportunity to develop U.S. Olympic/Paralympic athletes at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center.

Partner with USOC to expand the facilities of the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center.

Increase our NGB priority status through continuous training programs.

Continue to encourage the development and preparation of
the US Olympic/Paralympic Table Tennis athletes. 

SCOPE OF COMMITTEE

1. Establish and update the USOC funded billing criteria - Waiting for Cindy Munroe and Dave Stow to verify approval of the following submitted criteria. Upon approval, the athletes that meet the following criteria will not be billed when participating in approved programs at the Olympic Training Centers. 

 

All athletes must be Olympic eligible.

Adult (age 18 and over) males rated over 2300 - 33 athletes

Adult (age 18 and over) females rated over 2000 - 8 athletes 

Junior (age 17 and under) males rated over 2000 - 11 athletes

Junior (age 17 and under) females rated over 1800 - 9 athletes

Finalists in six age groups at AAU Junior Olympics/Junior Nationals - 12 female & 12 male athletes

Paralympic National Team members – 15 athletes

 

 2.   Encourage maximum usage of ARCO Training Center through information reports to the board, elite athletes and committees.

 

USOC/OTC athlete services: Lodging, use of OTC vans, food and Drink, on-site trainers, event therapists, off-site lunch boxes and water, sports psychologists, medical, scientific, recreational, educational and employment support, airport shuttle, administrative services, grant support. 

Facility availability – Aug 25 to Dececember 2001 is open at this time. January 2002 is full.

 3.   Plan and develop strategies for a Resident Training Program - The committee will coordinate with the USATT Board and the Chula Vista OTC.

Program operations with coaches and athletes.

Program requests’ for athletes, coaches and staff.

Cross training with athletes from other sports.

Establish athlete residency at OTC and Chula Vista: driver's license, registration to vote, etc.

Scholarship funds are available thru the "Olympic Scholarship Demonstration Project" that has been passed

Discussion on how monies are to be distributed.

Employment opportunities for resident athletes.

4.   Develop a relationship to insure partnership with planned future indoor sports facilities.

Elementary school program in Chula Vista through the "Exercise the Dream" program (community funded)

Table tennis site (exclusive on plan – USOC funded) - Co-funded by NGB?

Field house/multi-purpose gym / table tennis - (USOC funded)

USATT site (planned table tennis site – NGB funded/USOC maintained and owned)

5.   Communicate and work directly with headquarters on program requests for ARCO Training Center. 

Develop and maintain database of table tennis OTC usage.

Barney will work directly with the OTC and Margaret Smith on all program requests.

Short-term program – up to 3 months

Resident program – 3 months or more

6.   Program requests will be prioritized in the following order for athletes in training for:

1.

Olympic Games, World Championships, or Pan Am Games

2.

National caliber athletes participating in international competitions

3.

Paralympics, including National & International disabled events

4.

Coaching education colleges and conferences

5.

Developmental teams of medal sports

6.

Elite foreign athletes when participating in joint programs with the NGB

7.

Athletes participating in other elite level competitions

8.

Paralympic developmental athletes or teams

9.

Grassroots community-based programs

10.

Single sport programs conducted by affiliated sports organizations

11.

Conferences, meetings and clinics
