In an effort to better serve USA Table Tennis and its developing athletes, the Elite Athlete Committee is requesting coaches and other interested parties to nominate athletes under the age of 18 to be included in a National Junior Development Database.
At the present time, the only two ways the Committee has to identify athletes who should be included in the developmental pipeline is by looking at ratings and by word-of-mouth. The result has been that the Committee doesn't have a full picture of who comprises the "pool" of potential elite athletes. Additionally, there is no system to facilitate communication between the Elite Athlete Committee and that pool of athletes. To solve these problems, the Committee has designed a database that will allow monitoring of a junior's progress, will show a full picture of junior table tennis in the U.S., and will bring the Committee and the player pool into an effective communications network.
