2002 USA Table Tennis National Team Trials Will Be In Las Vegas

USA Table Tennis, the National Governing Body for the sport in the United States, has officially announced the 2002 Men's and Women's National Team Trials, December 18-19, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The competition will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Hall C3, starting Tuesday evening, 6:00 p.m., and concludes Wednesday, December 19. The top four finishers of each gender will be offered positions on the 2002 USA Table Tennis National Team.

The following 16 Male athletes will be competing in four 4-person round robin groups, advancing the top two of each group to a final 8-person round robin: Cheng Yinghua (MD), Eric Owens (TX), David Zhuang (NJ), Mark Hazinski (IN), Brian Pace (FL), Razvan Cretu (TX), Chi-Sun Chui (MA), Nison Aronov (NY), Sean O'neill (VA), Sean Lonergan (MD), Ashu Jain (NJ), Tuan Dai Le (CA), Randy Cohen (AZ), Richard Lee (MD), Avishy Schmidt (CA) and Adam Hugh (NJ).

The following 10 Female athletes will be competing in two 5-person round robins, advancing the top three into a final 6-person round robin: Jun Gao Chang (MD), Jasna Reed (TX), Tawny Banh (CA), Virginia Sung (NY), Simone Yang (OR), Lily Yip (NJ), Whitney Ping (OR), Katherine Wu (MD), Laura Leach (CO) and Allison Seibel (CA).
