The USOC Paralympic Table Tennis Elite Committee is seeking applications from qualified coaches/team leaders to serve the 2002 US World Paralympic Team.

Currently there are four events (3 international tournaments and 1 training camp) scheduled with the possibility of an additional training camp.

COACHES JOB DESCRIPTION

Coaches will serve as the technical, strategic, tactical, and motivational leaders for the Team.

REQUIREMENTS:

• USATT Certified Regional to National level Coach
• USATT Certified Umpire
• Participation in USOC Paralympic Camps

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Developing, with other coaches, training camp program and schedule;

• Developing and scheduling practice times at the tournament venue;
• Holding regular meetings with other coaches and/or athletes;
• Disseminating information to other coaches and athletes regarding schedules, results, practice times, and attire;
• Filing protests when appropriate on behalf of athletes in a timely fashion;
• Attending General Assembly Meeting for the ITTC with Team Leader;
• Attending meetings for Draws with Team Leader;
• Accompanying athletes through classification;
• Participating in disciplinary actions when necessary;
• Collecting accurate statistics regarding athlete performance;
• Video Taping of Matches;
• Submitting a Coaches Report on event selected for;
• Performing any other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.

TEAM LEADER JOB DESCRIPTION

Team Leaders will serves as the administrative and organizational leader for the team.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Participation in USOC Paralympic Camps
• Experience at major table tennis championships, including but not limited to, Paralympics, World and/or Pan American Championships;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Ability to coordinate and delegate duties of Coach(es);
• Ability to maintain team cohesiveness;
• Knowledge about the International Table Tennis Committee (ITTC) rules and regulations;
• High level of technical knowledge of table tennis for the disabled;
• American Red Cross Sport Safety Training Certification or its equivalent;
• Overseeing or delegating the oversight of mandatory training diary of each selected athlete for Paralympic Team;

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Insuring that athletes are correctly entered in all relevant events;
• Supervising Assistant Coaches during tournament matches;
• Attending General Assembly Meeting for the ITTC;
• Attending meetings for Draws;
• Serving as the representative for table tennis to delegation management (i.e. Team Leader/Chef de Mission);
• Accompanying athletes through classification;
• Developing, with coaches, training schedules during, and immediately preceding competition;
• Scheduling transportation to and from venue;
• Disseminating information to coaches and athletes regarding schedules, results, practice times and attire;
• Filing protests when appropriate on behalf of athletes in a timely fashion;
• Participating in disciplinary actions when necessary;
• Collecting accurate statistics regarding athlete performance;
• Holding regular meetings with assist coaches and/or athletes;
• Performing any other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.
