North American Table Tennis to Run U.S. Open for USATT

April 23, 2003 - Yesterday, USATT Executive Director Doru Gheorghe came to an agreement with Richard Lee, president of North American Table Tennis (NATT), to have them run the 2003 U.S. Open, July 2-6, 2003, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  NATT will provide its staff to run the Open pro bono, with USATT only paying for expenses. NATT will organize the tournament under USATT supervision, based on USATT's needs. USATT will pay for and provide other staffing, such as referees, umpires and USATT staff.

NATT has run 33 major USATT events, including the last five North American Team Championships, and the Stiga North American Tour, a series of 4-star tournaments run over the past four years. Their events have given out over $250,000 in prize money. They also run the Junior Olympics/Junior Nationals, and the ACUI and NCTTA College Championships. They are a proven company, with a growing reputation for excellent time scheduling, timeliness and efficiency, and USATT is pleased to have them run the U.S. Open.
