2000 Olympic Team Trials - Table Tennis
Rochester, NY, April 6-8

Dear USA Table Tennis Member,

I am cordially inviting you to come see what promises to be the premier table tennis spectator event in years – The 2000 Olympic Team Trials – Table Tennis.

Our top 8 athletes including Khoa Nguyen, Cheng Yinghua, Jasna Reed, and Lily Yip will compete against Canada for just 3 spots to compete in the Olympic Games in Sydney this September.

The event is being run by Richard McAfee (1996 Olympic Games Event Manager for Table Tennis) in 3 grueling days of round robin play, culminating in a final shoot-out on Saturday evening, April 8^th.

The 2000 Olympic Team Trials - Table Tennis, coordinated by USA Table Tennis, Monroe County Sports Development Corporation and The Greater Rochester Visitors Association, will be held in the spectator-friendly ESL Sports Centre. This venue boasts state-of-the-art hockey rinks, a theme restaurant and raised spectator seating. With airflow at less than 2 cm per second, the playing hall is ideal for Olympic level competition.

Tickets are free for all USA Table Tennis members ($5 per day for the general public). Beginning March 15^th, the Monroe County Visitors Association and the ESL Sports Centre will sell tickets to the general public. Supply may be limited as we are working with several media outlets to make this the premier sporting event in the Rochester market that weekend.

Event: Playoff between U.S. & Canada for entry into the Olympic draw. Features the best table tennis players in North America. The 2000 Olympic Team Trials – Table Tennis will be conducted in a round robin format in which there are only 3 men’s and 3 women's slots available.
