Monroe County Executive Jack Doyle along with USA Table Tennis Executive Director Ben Nisbet, announced today that The 2000 Olympic Team Trials for Table Tennis will be held in Rochester this April 6 - 8 at the ESL Sports Centre. This prestigious event features the top 32 men and women table tennis athletes from the United States and Canada. USA Table Tennis (USATT) is the national governing body for the sport of table tennis in the United States. The goal of USATT, located in Colorado Springs, is to promote table tennis and provide participants with the best possible experience. There are more than 8000 members representing approximately 200 clubs including the Genesee Valley Table Tennis Club located in Rochester. Currently, table tennis is the most popular racquet sport in the world and is the second largest participation sport. For more information regarding table tennis please visit the USATT website at www.usatt.org.

The Monroe County Sports Development Corporation (MCSDC) is hosting the event along with the Greater Rochester Visitors Association. MCSDC was created to attract sporting events such as this to the Rochester/Monroe County area. The Olympic Trials is another example that proves Rochester is a world class leader in the sports industry.
