Top U.S. Players to Compete in Las Vegas

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The top table tennis players in the country will smash their way into Las Vegas for the 2000 USA Table Tennis National Championships from December 13th through December 17th, 2000. This will commemorate the 25th year that Las Vegas has hosted the National Championships. The event is organized and coordinated by USA Table Tennis, the National Governing Body for the sport of table tennis in the United States, and Escalade Sports, manufacturers of the Stiga® line of tables. The players will vie for the coveted national titles at the Las Vegas Convention Center, and the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino will once again serve as the host hotel.

The 2000 USA Table Tennis National Championships will mark the first time the larger 40mm ball will be used in the National Championships. This should provide quite a showdown for the top spots in the tournament and enhance the already fierce competition.

Cheng Yinghua and Jun Gao Chang will defend their respective titles of men’s and women’s US Champions against a crowded field. The player to watch for the 2000 USA Table Tennis National Championships is up-and-comer Mark Hazinski. He is currently the #1 ranked U-16 Boys’ Singles player.

The 2000 USA Table Tennis National Championships entry form will be available online. Players interested in competing for the national titles can access the entry form at www.usatt.org. The USA Table Tennis Nationals are not reserved for just the elite players. First time entrants to a USA Table Tennis sanctioned event are invited to join the competition as well. There are two novice ratings events at the tournament, the U-800 RR and the U-500 RR divisions.

The 2000 USA Table Tennis National Championships will be the most exciting yet as we compete at the Las Vegas Convention Center and celebrate our 25th year in Las Vegas. So come on out, join the fun, watch some impressive table tennis action, renew old friendships, and make some new ones.
