2008 U.S. Olympic and National Team Trials

The 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials will be held in the Daskalakis Athletic Center, Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA, January 10-13. The format for the Trials has now been set.

A twelve player round robin will be held for each gender. The four top finishers per gender will advance to the 2008 North American Olympic Trials, scheduled for April 4-6 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The top ten rated entrants for each gender will be seeded into their respective Trials. Two additional contestants will reach the Trials via a Qualification Event, which will take place on Thursday, January 10.

The format for Qualifications will be as follows:

• If there are five or fewer entrants per gender, a round robin will be held. The top two finishers will advance.
  
• If there are more than five but fewer than nine, two round robins with crossovers will be held. The top two finishers will advance.
• If there are nine or more entrants per gender, a Single Elimination event will be conducted. The finalists will advance.

The Local Organizing Committee has provided hotel rooms from January 11-13 for all players in the Trials.

The $200 entry fee, which must accompany entry, will be refunded to all players advancing to the Continental Trials, in Vancouver.

Taxi vouchers will be given to all players flying in for the event. Parking will be provided to all players arriving by car.
