USA Paralympic Athletes Prepare for the Para World Championships in Korea this October 27 – November 2, 2010

A report from the ITTF PTT World Championships in Korea where the final seeding and selection has been finalized.

Seeded 17 out of a total of 24 selected athletes in Women’s Wheelchair class 3 singles Current Para Pan American G old medalist

Seeded 16 out of a total of 18 in Wheelchair Men’s  class 2. Current Para Pan American Silver medalist.

Seeded 8 out of a total of 18 selected in Men’s standing class 7 and considered our best hope for a medal. Past World Champion and Paralympic G old medalist. Current Para Pan American G old medalist

Seeded 17 out of a total of 18 in Men’s standing class 9, Past Paralympic G old medalist. Current Para Pan American G old medalist

Seeded 5 out of a total of 5 teams selected in Men’s Standing team class 9

It is important to note that ITTF PTT has over 3,300 active competing athletes ranked in all classes but only 304 athletes are selected through a very strict selection process almost identical to the process done by ITTF for the Olympic and Paralympic games, to go to the World Championships. The ITTF PTT World Championships are only held every 4 years.
