2011 Cadet and Junior National Team Selection, Procedures and Rules

Selection:
  1. Top 4 finishers/gender/age category at the Trials will be placed on USA Team A.
  2. Finishers in positions 5th through 8th at the Trials will be placed on USA Team B.
  3. USATT reserves the right to send to international tournaments and training camps up to 4 athletes/gender/age category pending USATT approved budget, priority being given to the members of USA Team A.

The selection/nomination of each athlete in National Teams will be done after USA Table Tennis receives the athlete and parents unaltered code of conduct signed by the athlete and parents.
No athlete will be selected/ nominated in National team until USATT receives the two above mentioned codes of conduct signed.

Procedures

  1. If for any reason, other than illness or injury (which must be documented), a member of the USA Team A chooses not to participate in USATT approved and funded programs, that player will be transferred to 4th position on USA Team B. The highest qualifier to USA Team B (based on finishing order at the Trials) will be invited to join the USA Team A
  2.       For example:

USA Team A: 1, 2, 3, 4
USA Team B: 5, 6, 7, 8
If player 1 refuses to participate in a funded program, player 5 will be promoted to USA Team A, fourth position. New rosters would read as follows:

                        USA Team A: 2,3,4,5
                        USA Team B: 6,7,8,1.

The same process of moving up and down will be used for members of USA team B as well.  So, if an athlete in USA Team B is invited and refuses to participate in a USATT funded program he/she will move down to fourth position, with other Team B players being promoted accordingly.

While USATT will officially recognize USA Team B, there will be no funding available for its members. However, USATT will assist the members of USA Team B interested in participating in international tournaments by entering and sending necessary paperwork to organizers.  Since the number of athletes /association entered in international tournaments is limited to a certain number, the members of USA Team B will have priority over any athletes other than USA Team A.
USATT may invite some or all members of USA Team B to training camp(s) at USATT expense, part expenses or no expenses paid by USATT.  Moreover, pending availability of National Team uniforms, USATT may provide some items to the USA Team B if and when they participate in international tournaments.

Coaches:
- For international competitions, the National Team Coaches will decide on nomination of athletes in the delegation making the trip if the budget is not sufficient for the entire Team A or the team for that specific event is composed of less than 4 athletes.
- In team events it is solely coach’s decision on the composition of the team in each match tie.
