NBC Today Show to Feature 2009 National Champion Michael Landers
Michael Landers continues to receive media coverage for becoming the youngest athlete to ever win the 2009 USA Table Tennis National Championships last December. The NBC Today Show will air Landers’ feature on Friday, Jan. 29 from 7-10 a.m. EST. At the age of 15, he claimed the men’s single title, and U.S. Youth Olympic Games Team Trials championship.
Tiki Barber, the former New York Giants running back and now NBC reporter, spent time with Landers at his parent’s home in Old Westbury, N.Y. The NBC crew also traveled into New York City to see Landers at the SPiN Club, which is his home club.
Since capturing the title, Landers has been featured in the New York Times, YES Network and other local media outlets. On Jan. 22, Landers’ accomplishment was recognized by finishing third in the December U.S. Olympic Committee Male Athlete of the Month Award.
