NGB Candidates for USOC Board of Directors


USOC is in the process of electing and NGB’s candidate for the USOC Board of Director.
Persons interested to run for this position should send their biographical info to ed@usatt.org  by October 23 6:00Pm Mountain Time.

The candidates should full fill the following requirements:
1. Have a broadly based understanding of Olympic sports and a dedication to the  principles of the Olympic movement. 

2. Knowledge in depth and first hand experience with USOC NGBs, how they  operate, the challenges they face, and the USOC's various roles vis-à-vis   NGBs (i.e., regulator, funder, provider of rescues, etc.).

3. Knowledge in depth and first hand experience with corporate governance and management especially of not for profits. Working experience with the separate roles and responsibilities of a board and management is especially useful.

4. Familiarity with the other USOC constituencies and an appreciation of their interests and concerns.

5. Familiarity with both the Stevens Act and the USOC Bylaws and their
recent history.

6. Objectivity in dealing with the various USOC constituencies. The NGB nominated board members should bring the knowledge of NGBs and the USOC described above but be able and willing to deal fairly with competing perhaps conflicting interests coupled with a dedication to putting the interests of the USOC foremost.

7. The courage to take potentially unpopular positions when necessary and the humility to abandon mistaken positions. A willingness to listen to and understand other points of view.
       
8. A willingness to resign from all NGB and IF positions if selected for the BOD.
