First Annual Nate Wasserman - Age Eligibility Update
October 4, 2007
To: Those Boys and Girls who are eligible for the "Nate Wasserman" Scholarship Awards...
It has come to the attention of the Wasserman Award Committee that there might be a misunderstanding as to the correct age eligibility of some of our candidates. It has always been our intent to follow the USATT and ITTF rules pertaining to age. Note this example:
Cadet Events (Under 14)
1) must be born on or after January 1, 1993.
Therefore, for our purposes this year, here are the age rules for the Wasserman Awards:
Boys and Girls Under 18...
Must be born on or after January 1, 1989
Boys and Girls Under 16...
Must be born on or after January 1, 1991
Boys and Girls Under 14...
Must be born on or after January 1, 1993
Boys and Girls Under 12...
Must be born on or after January 1, 1995
Boys and Girls Under 10...
Must be born on or after January 1, 1997
I sincerely hope that these rule interpretations do not cause any inconvenience for any of our "Wasserman" candidates.
In addition, since the tournament headquarters for the U.S. Nationals is no longer at the Stratosphere Hotel, the Wasserman Awards will be presented on Saturday, December 22, 2007 during the "Finals" at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
