Stipends for 4th and 5th Team Members

Motion:

Moved to amend the budget to include four (4) $1,000 stipends paid towards the unreimbursed expenses of the women’s and men’s fourth and fifth members of the US team competing in the 2007 World Championship in Zagreb , Croatia .  The members are Crystal Huang, Judy Hugh, Misha Kazantsev, and Barney Reed, Jr.  Each must attend the competition and turn in a report of unpaid expenses that will be paid up to $1,000.  The total of $4,000 will come out of the current reserve.

Statement from Whitney, Ashu and Khoa: “The athlete representatives wish to express that their vote on this motion is to reflect only their opposition in the way this motion proposes to use funds on elite athletes, a take that was also unanimously supported by all members of the Elite Athlete Committee.  All athletes should know that the athlete representatives to the Board are working to serve the athletes in the best way possible, but would rather have seen this money used on other elite athlete programs than this motion proposed."
