My name is Hisham Sulaiman (gorvachev@hotmail.com) and these are my FAX thoughts... Hi, my name is Hisham Sulaiman, It was quite an accident when I first found out about FAX. My first encounter with FAX was somewhere in 1996 when I bought a CD boxset titled Trans Europe Express II. The boxset comprises 2 CDs and a booklet in which the writer explained about the labels and the artists involved. An artist from FAX, Pete Namlook was one of them and the track selected from him was Escape to Mars. There were some fax albums that were reviewed in the booklet, which include Psyconavigation, Air and Silence. Then, as usual I went to my local record store to search for the albums but I was dissapointed. I have no idea of their limited pressing at that moment.
Few months later I scanning through a pile of CDs at a record store when I come across a 4 discs compilation entitled 'THE AMBIENT COOKBOOK'. I'm sure you can guess what happened since then.
Now I own about 30+ FAX albums and I'am trying to get more titles. Too bad most of the albums are hard to find. I can still remember, it's funny how I once found Create, Zenith and 62 Eulengasse at the New Age Section of a CD store and I could not explain how those rare FAX CDs could have made their way to Singapore!, in fact, I manage to secure 15 of FAX CDs locally the rest were imported. My favourite albums are Sad World 1 and 2 - I could not resist its beautiful ethno soundscape, Shades of Orion 2 - My sleeping pills and Silence - Music I meditate to. Besides its music, FAX have the most beautiful, mysterious and abstract cover art, sometimes it goes well with the music.
Bravo! Fax, hope to hear more from u. Chow.
