Explanation:
In putting, the actual hole is rarely ever the target!
Using an x/y coordinate system, the
idea is to slide the actual hole on the axes to identify and putt at a projected
target hole.
How much you slide the projected target hole up/down/left/right on these
axes is dependent upon how the green is sloped, e.g.,
uphill/downhill/left-to-right/right-to-left.

The actual hole (white) is located at the intersection of the x/y axis
(origin.)

located
17" behind the actual hole.
The delta y projected hole (purple) is
located an
adjusted distance on the y
axis depending on the uphill or downhill slope of the putt.
The delta x projected hole (red) becomes the
projected
target hole and is
located an adjusted distance from the x axis depending on the
left-to right or right-to-left break of the putt.
The red line becomes the aim line and in
effect the putt becomes a
straight putt. Farnsworth strongly recommends aligning the ball's logo to
this red line.
The green line is the actual path the ball
will travel when struck at the correct
speed on its way into the hole.
