Welcome to the Falls Church High School Band alumni site! The purpose
of this site is to provide an area where we can post information, news,
and links. It will operate as an adjunct to the Facebook FCHS Band
Group.
A FCHS band reunion was held August 28-30, 2009 at Orkney Springs. There were approximately 209 alumni and family members in attendance. We had a fantastic time reminiscing and becoming reacquainted with old friends. Those that were not able to attend were missed. We hope you will be able to join us at the next reunion at Orkney (target date during the summer of 2012).
The current FCHS Band director, John Davenport, was able to join us during the Saturday evening festivities at the reunion. He shared with us his desire for the present day band members to become reconnected with the proud FCHS band history and legacy. His enthusiasm was infectious and we would like to thank him for reaching out to us. The present FCHS Band has a great website named jaguarband.org that is packed with information.
In the spirit of reconnecting and continuing the legacy, Mr. Davenport suggested that as many band alumni as possible, both instrumentalists and color guard (flags or whatever you were called at the time) come to the homecoming game on October 23. The alumni marched in to the stadium behind the band (marching is not the chair step so we all could do it).
Those who play instruments joined the band in playing tunes. The National Anthem was sung by the chorus.
Mr. Davenport helped bridge the gap back to the 60's. We can help. We are family.

Falls Church High School Band DVDs
- 12/19
Greetings everyone. I hope this holiday season finds everyone happy and healthy.
The good news: Yesterday I received the finalized Master DVD discs from the reunion and watched them last night. I wall thrilled with the result and am very excited for you to be able to see them. Today I took them to An Affair to Remember (AATR), the company that will be selling a distributing them. I am aware that there have been numerous pre-orders placed with AATR anticipation of the finished product. They have begin burning the pre-ordered DVDs at this time and will make every attempt to get them to you by Christmas producing and mailing them on a first come first served basis.
The bad news: Given that we had such a wonderful time at the reunion gala presentation it ran long with the entire finished program running 4 hours long. When I made the arrangements for the sale of the DVDs by AATR I was not aware that the maximum program length for each DVD would be 2 hours. This resulted in the need to put the first half of the gala on one DVD (Part I) and the second half on a second one (PartII). The Part II does include the footage of the band shows and the guillotine. In order to get the whole program, which, I highly recommend, it is necessary to buy 2 DVD for a total cost of $25. I apologize for the previous inadvertent misinformation on my part.
Those that have already pre-ordered a DVD of the gala and a DVD of the old band shows will instead receive the 2 DVD gala set.
Mike Peters graciously produced the gala and the DVDs free of charge as a labor of love for the FCHS Band family. If you are as thrilled with the end-product as I am, I would encourage everyone to contact Mike to pass on your accolades as he deserves them. Mike’s email address is: mvpeters@mac.com
In February, after everyone has had a chance to view the gala I will send out another email to the members on this.
In the Spring 2010 I will send a notice to
the Distribution List to determine whether there is interest in having Mike Peters burn all of old band shows that were not included in the gala program onto a third DVD that would be available for purchase.
For those that are interested in placing an order for the 2 DVD set gala program you may do so at this time.
