Shift-Turn-Shift-Turn
Proper timing of the Shift-Turn-Shift-Turn sequence is all there is
to it in unleashing enormous power in the golf swing!
The key lies in a two-directional transition motion that occurs near the
top of the swing. The simultaneous completion of
the backswing turn coupled with the beginning of the downswing shift
creates the potential power.
A tremendous whip-like energy gets stored in the big muscles that
then gets transmitted to and released by the
smaller muscles, which causes the club to ka-fling into impact.
Backswing
- Shift - move the weight over to the right side with a lateral
hip bump. This is the classic one piece take away. Be sure that the
weight moves firmly into the right thigh and
remains braced on the inside of the right foot.
- Turn - turn the shoulders against the hips to create
maximum torque through resistance. Wind up a big upper body turn
against a small lower body turn. Position
the left shoulder over the right knee.
The right leg acts like a post that your body rotates around, up to the
top of the swing.
Downswing
- Shift - move the weight over to the left side with a lateral hip
bump. This "magic move" is made in conjunction with the arms falling down
into the slot and the right elbow dropping down close to the right hip. Retain
a 90 degree angle between the club and left arm into the delivery position.
- Turn - turn the hips and rotate your belt buckle towards the target
as fast as possible. This begins the sequence that unwinds the shoulders,
which next pulls the arms through, which finally results in centrifugal force
un cocking the wrists into impact. The left leg acts like a post that your
body rotates around, through to the finish of the swing.
