Q: What is the official USATT ruling on how to decide who serves first. The common method appears to be hiding the ball under the table. Is this acceptable except for elite matches during tournaments? I have seen members of the world doubles cup teams in 1992 do it, but what is the official idea? Our club has lots of discussion about this subject.

A: Officially, the order of serving is decided by toss, performed by a qualified umpire delegated to the match by the Chief Umpire.
