2026 U.S. National Championships Begin in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. — The largest U.S. National Table Tennis Championships in history are underway at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center through July 9.
San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan joined the opening-day festivities, taking to the table with USA Table Tennis Chief Executive Officer Virginia Sung.
“Table tennis is a perfect fit for San Jose,” said Mayor Mahan. “It's fast, precise, global, competitive, and accessible, a sport played by people of all ages and backgrounds. That sounds a lot like our city.”
“To every athlete competing this week, welcome to San Jose. We are so proud to host you. We hope you play your very best, enjoy our beautiful city and feel the hospitality of our community,” added Mahan.
Following the Mayor’s welcome and well-wishes to the 1,148 participants, Virginia Sung highlighted the importance of not only the competitive setting in table tennis, but also community building, another signature aspect of the sport.
“We're proud that the U.S. National Championships bring together players of all ages and skill levels. From eight-year-olds to competitors in their 80s. From athletes with Parkinson's disease to para-athletes, from recreational ping-pong players to some of the very best athletes in the country,” said Sung.
That emphasis on community is reflected throughout the championships, which feature 113 events spanning youth, adult, senior, and para divisions.
