Liang and Moyland Open Finals Day With Mixed Doubles Championship

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Jishan Liang and Sally Moyland took gold in the mixed doubles championship to open Finals Day at the 2026 U.S. National Table Tennis Championships.
The title winners beat Daniel Tran and Jessica Reyes-Lai 3-1 (11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 11-8) in the championship final at San Jose McEnery Convention Center.
Liang credited the pair's experience together at the U.S. Smash for building the familiarity that carried them to the national title.
"We were very relaxed since we played the U.S. Smash,” Liang said. “We competed in many high-level matches, so now we really know each other's game."
Liang’s overwhelming power, paired with Moyland’s deft touch around the net, allowed them to control the majority of the match.
“I think we both improved our singles skills first of all, that's very important for doubles, especially because we're not able to practice with each other that much,” Moyland said. “Our own ability is really important.”
In the third game, Tran and Reyes-Lai looked in sync, but the champions adjusted quickly in the fourth, using strong serve-and-receive execution to disrupt the runners-up's rhythm and close out the championship.
The victory gave Liang his first U.S. national mixed doubles title and Moyland her second consecutive mixed doubles national championship.
