U.S. standouts Kanak Jha and Lily Zhang return to international competition this week at WTT Contender Skopje 2026. They begin play in the men’s and women’s singles main draw on Thursday, June 4, at Sports Center Jane Sandanski, North Macedonia.
The Americans earned direct entry into the main draw, bypassing the qualification draw of more than 100 players. World No. 30 Jha and World No. 41 Zhang enter as seeded players. With 400 ranking points available to the singles champions and a field loaded with top-50 talent, Skopje represents one of the strongest tests of the year for both Americans.
Jha goes into men’s singles as the sixth seed. He’s coming off a finals appearance for Borussia Düsseldorf at the 2025-2026 German Tischtennis-Bundesliga (TTBL) championships, highlighted by a victory over Slovenian World No. 15 Darko Jorgic.
Jorgic's presence near the top of the draw is a reminder that Jha has already shown he can compete with some of the tournament's strongest contenders.
Potential meetings with Anders Lind of Denmark or members of the French squad that sent the U.S. home at the World Team Table Tennis Championships in London could create some of the most intriguing matchups in the men’s draw.
After helping the U.S. Women's Team reach the round of 16 at London 2026, Lily Zhang enters Skopje as the No. 16 seed.
The four-time Olympian brings experience against world-class competition that could be critical as she navigates the deep women's draw. The Contender includes 20 women ranked inside the world’s top 50, including 10 ranked in the top 30.
If there’s one name circled in the women’s bracket, it’s Japanese star Satsuki Odo, the tournament favorite. Continuing her ascent, the World No. 13 clinched a win a week ago at WTT Contender Lagos and her first WTT Star Contender victory earlier this year.
Success will likely depend on keeping unforced errors to an absolute minimum against a field filled with international stars and rising talent. Skopje presents a difficult path, but a deep run from either American could provide significant momentum heading into WTT’s summer calendar.
Fans can follow Kanak Jha and Lily Zhang throughout WTT Contender Skopje 2026 via live scores, results and streaming coverage as the tournament unfolds.
