Over Memorial Day weekend, Sally Moyland won her second consecutive U19 girls’ singles title at WTT Youth Contenders in North America. One week removed from her win in Mississauga, Canada, she captured another title at 888 Table Tennis Center’s Youth Contender San Francisco II.

The field featured a new wave of international talent. Many of the U.S. players had just faced one another, creating heavy pressure on execution during the tournament. Moyland kept the momentum alive following her trip north, returning stateside to power through the field.

The U19 girls’ singles final was a direct rematch of the Mississauga final. Moyland dictated the pace in the short-game touch play against Satya Aspathi and kept her out of rhythm for much of the match. She dispatched Aspathi 3-0 (11-4, 11-5, 11-5) in San Francisco.

The victory continued Moyland’s strong rise in the ITTF Table Tennis World Rankings.

In the U19 boys’ singles final, Anav Gupta defeated Chinese Taipei’s Min-Hsiu Cheng in four games 3-1 (11-8, 7-11, 11-4, 13-11). The match was competitive as Cheng had formidable flicks throughout and snagged game two, but down the stretch it was all Gupta.

The American found success pinning Cheng in the corners and jamming him inside, running away with game three and fending off a comeback in the fourth game to close out the match.

Mandy Yu and Chulong Nie took the U19 mixed doubles title. The top-seeded U.S. and Australian duo made quick work of the rest of the field.

Their 3-1 finish over Vishal Sivakumar and Dariah Feng continued to highlight Nie’s ability to thrive in mixed doubles. The Australian is also coming off a second straight WTT Youth Contender win after taking the same title at Mississauga alongside Irene Yeoh.

The U.S. made it to the top of the podium three more times across the tournament’s ten age events to bring the overall total to six first-place finishes for WTT Youth Contender San Francisco II.

Irene Yeoh overcame Chie Yen Chen of Chinese Taipei in the U17 girls’ singles 3-1 (9-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-7).

In U15 mixed doubles, American Daniel Ho and Chie Yen Chen swept New Zealand’s Eli Ho and Yelena Yi 3-0 (11-3, 16-14, 11-7).

Oscar Su defeated Furas Ahmed 3-1 (11-1, 6-11, 11-7, 11-9) in the U11 boys’ singles final.
