The United States closed the 2026 ITTF Pan American Youth Championships with nine titles and 22 medals, led by four championships each for Sally Moyland and Irene Yeoh.
The U.S. also earned medals in all four team events, with the U19 and U15 girls winning gold, the U15 boys taking silver and the U19 boys earning bronze. The first and second place results put multiple Americans in position to qualify for the 2026 ITTF World Youth Championships in Istanbul.
For Moyland, the performance marked a fitting conclusion to her Pan American Youth career. In her final appearance at the event, she swept the U19 girls’ singles, doubles, mixed doubles titles and girls’ teams titles.
Moyland swept teammate Lilian Ma in the singles final, with Ma taking silver. The pair then teamed up to sweep Satya Aspathi and Hildy Chen in the doubles final.
Moyland completed her run alongside Daniel Tran mixed doubles, their victory over Peru’s Keiji Takeda and Natzumi coming straight games.
"There is no better way to 'graduate' a tournament than a clean sweep. I’m grateful for my teammates and coaches that made it possible," Moyland said. "My success at the pan am youths will definitely be something that sticks to me and for sure one of the greatest accomplishments in my career."
Tran added gold in U19 boys’ doubles with Darryl Tsao, defeating Peru’s Gonzalo Vera and Takeda, 3-1. He also earned bronze in singles.
Yeoh matched Moyland’s four-title performance in the U15 division, winning girls’ singles, doubles, mixed doubles and the team event.
She defeated Abigail Yu, 3-1, in the singles final after a 3-0 semifinal victory over Tiana Piyadasa. Yu took silver and Piyadasa bronze, giving the U.S. all three spots on the singles podium. Yeoh and Yu also secured qualification positions for Istanbul through their first- and second-place finishes.
Yeoh and Yu added doubles gold with a 3-0 victory over Argentina’s Camila Perez and Marta Salazar, while Isabella Luo and Piyadasa earned bronze.
Yeoh then teamed with Lucas Wu to win mixed doubles, defeating fellow Americans Kyler Chen and Yu, 3-0. Wu also took bronze in boys’ singles and silver in boys’ doubles with Chen.
The U.S. carried the momentum from the team competition after reaching the medal round in all four events. The girls won both age divisions, while the U15 boys finished second and the U19 boys third. First- and second-place finishers in singles and team events qualify for the 2026 ITTF World Youth Championships in Istanbul.
For Moyland, Istanbul provides one more opportunity to compete against many of the world's top emerging players before her focus shifts further toward the adult circuit.
