National Teams Take Shape After Ranking Tournament I

Colorado Springs, CO – January 28, 2025 – The first of two Adult National Team Ranking Tournaments of 2025 took place at 888 Table Tennis Center in Burlingame, California from January 23 – 26th. The results of the competition combined with world rankings shaped the initial rosters for the 2025 Men’s and Women’s National Teams.

The national team rosters will be adjusted throughout the year, reflecting results from the second national ranking tournament, the US Nationals, the US Open and the continuously updated world rankings. All athletes making the top 8 will retain their National Team status for a minimum of six months, regardless of changes in the rankings.

Several players are on the brink of breaking into the teams thanks to the innovative new dynamic ranking point system. For the Men’s Team, Aditya Godhwani, Benjamin Lo, and Bosman Botha are close contenders. Similarly, Mandy Yu, Natalie Dong, and Sophia Chen are strong candidates to join the Women’s Team.

Next up is the first 2025 Junior National Ranking Tournament, scheduled to take place at the Westchester Table Tennis Club in Pleasantville, NY from February 13th to February 17th. Over 200 young athletes have already entered this competition, with the goal of being named to the US National Junior team. These aspiring young athletes will have the opportunity to shape the future of U.S. table tennis on the international stage.
