Myrtle Beach, SC – August 29–31, 2025 – The US Open Table Tennis Teams Championships made its long-awaited return in Myrtle Beach, SC, more than 25 years since the last edition. Played at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center, the event was presented by Butterfly and supported by Visit Myrtle Beach. Ninety-five teams came together for three days of matches across eight divisions, and in the end, it was 888 Table Tennis Center who stood tall, winning the Championship Division and the $10,000 top prize.

The final between 888 Table Tennis Center and the MLTT All Stars had the feel of a true showdown. In the opening match, Hiromitsu Kasahara gave 888 the lead by defeating Koyo Kanamitsu 3–1 in an all-Japanese battle. The second match was even closer. Jinxin Wang fought hard for the All Stars, but Kim Taehyun showed great nerve, pulling out a 14–12 win in the deciding fifth game. That put 888 ahead 2–0 and  left it to Sid Naresh, one of USA’s brightest talents, to try and close the door. Across the table stood Kai Zhang, another player with experience at the World Championships. The match was tight, but Naresh’s fighting spirit sealed the win, 888 Table Tennis Center had completed a stunning 3–0 sweep to claim the title

Huifen Chan, founder of 888 Table Tennis Center, called it a special moment:
“We’re proud to have taken part in the inaugural US Open Teams — an incredible opportunity for our players to come together, compete as a team, and build lasting bonds. Bringing home the Gold was the perfect finishing touch!”

The MLTT All Stars finished second, while Major League Team and LYTTC Banana Boys filled the other podium spots in Division 1.

But the Championships were about much more than just the top division. Across all eight tiers of play, stories of determination, inspiration, and camaraderie unfolded. In Division 2, Broward TTC 1 triumphed over the Deaf Stars, a remarkable Japanese team composed entirely of players with hearing impairments. The Deaf Stars said afterward that they loved the event and plan to return next year. Division 3 saw Broward TTC 2 take gold over the Lonestar Warriors, while in Division 4, the Mavericks outlasted the spirited Super Smash Bros.

Division 5 may have produced the most dramatic finish of all. Stadium 2 won 5–4 in a match that went right down to the very last set, with about 50 people crowded around the table cheering every rally. Division 6 belonged to the Lodestar Lions, while Division 7 brought an inspiring family story, as Team Kodaty — a father and his two children — played their way to the title. Division 8 closed with LYTTC Paddle Panthers coming out on top over CITTA West.

The Myrtle Beach setting made the weekend even more memorable. Players enjoyed good weather, the nearby beach, and plenty of restaurants after their matches. The event showed why team competitions are so special in table tennis, creating not just great battles on the table but also bonds off it.

The 2025 US Open Teams Championships was a big success, and the dates for next year will be announced soon
