Charlotte, N.C. – The second event in the 2025 USATT Junior Ranking Series took place at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Athletes competed across five age divisions: U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19. With many players entering multiple categories, the event served not only as a platform to earn national ranking points but also as a developmental checkpoint for some of the country’s top young players. The tournament highlighted players who are consistently performing across age groups and provided valuable match play for athletes preparing for international events.

In the Girls’ U11 final, Karina Xiao, who placed 5th in part one of the ranking series, captured her first title with a narrow 3-2 win over defending champion Holly Huang. Xiao held her composure in a close final set, winning 11-9 to secure the championship.

In Boys’ U11, Jacob Kordus successfully defended his title, defeating 5th seed Allen Mao in the final. Both Kordus and Mao also competed in the U13 division, where they finished 6th and 7th respectively—showcasing their ability to compete above their age group.

In the Girls’ U13 category, #2 seed Anagha Kasichainula won the title by defeating #1 seed and defending champion Abigail Yu. The match reflected the growing depth in this division, with both finalists displaying strong fundamentals and consistency.

Yu’s performance extended beyond U13. She made one of the biggest impacts of the tournament by reaching the U19 final, including a semifinal win over Sally Moyland, a U.S. National Team athlete recently back from competing at the 2025 ITTF World Championships in Doha.

In the Boys’ U13 division, top seed Tanish Mamidyala won a tightly contested five-set final over #2 seed Chirag Pradhan. The match was close from start to finish, with Mamidyala prevailing in the deciding set. Both players later advanced in the U15 bracket—Mamidyala finishing 8th and Pradhan placing 4th—highlighting the strength of this U13 age group.

In Girls’ U15, top seed Tashiya Piyadasa, who was a U17 champion and U19 finalist in part one, added to her success by defeating #5 seed Irene Yeoh in the final. After dropping the first two games, Piyadasa recovered and won three straight to take the title. Yeoh also advanced to the semifinals in U17, while both players reached the U19 quarterfinals, confirming their ability to compete at multiple levels.

In Boys’ U15, Kef Noorani won his first ranking tournament title with a 3-0 win over Kevin Doyle. Despite the straight-set scoreline, each game was tightly contested. Noorani, a finalist in part one, also reached the semifinals in the U17 division, underlining his consistency and growth in tournament play.

In the Girls’ U17 final, #1 seed Satya Aspathi, who had reached the U15 and U17 finals in part one, defeated #14 seed Anya Shanbhag in straight sets. Aspathi played confidently and efficiently, closing each game before Shanbhag could gain momentum. Aspathi continued her strong form throughout the weekend and would later win the U19 division as well.

The Boys’ U17 final featured #4 seed Ryan Lin and #3 seed Yashraj Shah in one of the more competitive matches of the weekend. Lin won the match 3-1, with two sets extending past deuce. Lin’s consistent shot placement and point construction allowed him to outlast Shah in key rallies.

In the Girls’ U19 final, Satya Aspathi claimed her second title of the tournament, defeating top seed Abigail Yu 3-1. Aspathi showed strong form throughout the weekend, and her win in this division capped off a breakout performance.

Sally Moyland, a member of the U.S. National Team, returned to domestic competition after participating in the World Championships in Doha. She reached the semifinals, losing to Yu in a closely watched match and eventually finishing 3rd.

The Boys’ U19 final saw defending champion Victor Xie, seeded third, return to the top with a 3-1 victory over #4 seed Darryl Tsao. Each set was closely contested, with both players displaying a high level of tactical discipline and focus. Xie’s run to the title included key wins over Nandan Naresh, Stanley Hsu, and Tsao.
