2025 Pacific Regional Championships at ICC Table Tennis Center. Milpitas, California. May 2-4, 2025.

Milpitas, CA – May 5, 2025 — The 2025 USATT Pacific Regional Championships, held at the India Community Center (ICC) in Milpitas, CA from May 2–4, shattered records with over 275 participants, making it one of the largest table tennis events ever hosted at a club in Northern California and the greater Bay Area. As the second installment in the five-event 2025 USATT Regional Championship Series, the Pacific Regionals followed the successful Southwest Championships held in March at the Houston International Table Tennis Academy in Katy, Texas.

The tournament was a showcase of high-caliber youth talent, particularly from Northern California, whose players dominated across divisions. Remarkably, every winner in the boys’ and girls’ junior events is currently a member of the US Junior National Team—a testament to the strength and depth of training in the region.

“We are thankful for the opportunity to host the USATT Pacific Regionals,” said Rajul Sheth, Executive Director of ICC Table Tennis. “This event has created history in the San Francisco Bay Area with over 275 participants, the majority of them Juniors and Youth. The 3-day competition was intense with a packed audience cheering their favorite players.”

Boys’ Events Highlight Future of US Table Tennis

The Boys U19 final saw an all-888 Table Tennis Center showdown between top seed and U19 National Team No. 1, Nandan Naresh, and rising star Victor Xie, who previously triumphed at the 2025 Junior National Ranking Tournament I. Naresh’s experience and consistency secured him the title, with Alex Luo and Anav Gupta—both National Team players—rounding out a stacked podium.

The He brothers, both training at 888 TTC, stamped their authority on the younger age groups: Xianyao He claimed the Boys U17 title while his brother Xianliang He triumphed in Boys U15. Chirag Pradhan of Table Tennis America (TTA) won the Boys U13, and Joey Yang, who trains at California Table Tennis in Rosemead, CA, clinched the Boys U11 crown.

Girls’ Events See Dominance by Piyadasa, Yeoh, and Emerging Talents

On the girls’ side, Irene Yeoh of Table Tennis America took the Girls U19 title with a commanding straight-set victory over Tashiya Piyadasa from Orange County Table Tennis Academy. Piyadasa bounced back strongly to sweep both the Girls U17 and U15 titles.

Emerging talents also made their mark: Anagha Kasichaiula won Girls U13, and Karina Xiao captured the Girls U11 title, continuing the Bay Area's stronghold across divisions.

Men’s Singles: Youth Rises Above Experience

One of the most thrilling stories of the event unfolded in the Men’s Singles bracket. Top seed and U.S. Men’s National Team member Sid Naresh was upset by his 888 TTC teammate Darryl Tsao, who notched three back-to-back upsets, including a stunning victory over experienced Akio Fukuhara in the final. Fukuhara had battled past Alex LuoIshaan Hingorani, and Kiranjoy Pushilal en route to the final, but Tsao's determined play sealed the title with a 3-1 win.

“It was definitely a challenge to win the Men's Singles title,” Tsao shared. “But I'm glad I was able to prove to myself that I could overcome difficulties in a tournament such as the Regional Championship.”

Women’s and Senior Divisions Deliver Upsets and New Champions

In the Women’s Singles, Yao Tang overcame reigning 2024 Pacific Regional Champion Ma Tianyue to earn her first regional title. Yurina Okamoto and Xin Li shared third place after strong performances.

The Men’s 40+ Singles saw Srini Venkataramani emerge victorious, defeating George Siu 3-1 in the final. Vinay Chandra and Fernando Chang rounded out the podium.

Road to Junior National Team Selection Heats Up

This Regional Championship Series is critical for junior players, as their best performance in one regional counts toward the USATT National Team Selection Process. With three more events remaining in the series—NortheastSoutheast, and Midwest—the competition is far from over.

Next up is the USATT Northeast Regional Championships in Pleasantville, NY, hosted at Westchester Table Tennis Center from May 10–11, 2025. With entries still open for the Northeast, Southeast, and Midwest events, aspiring junior national team members have more chances to earn points towards national team status.
