Moyland Captures Gold in Girls’ Singles at Pan Am Youth Championships

Sally Moyland earned the U19 Girls’ Singles gold medal in Argentina at the 2022 ITTF Pan American Youth Championships for table tennis. Moyland’s third gold medal of the tournament with wins in Girls’ Doubles and the Girls’ Team Event.
Moyland added to the dominant performance of the U.S. U19 Girls’ squad by defeating Brazil in two straight matches in the Semi-finals and Finals. All the while, she dropped just a single game through the group stages and into the finals.
In the semi-finals, Moyland played against Laura Watanabe, who took the third game before Moyland finished the match in the next two games (11-8, 11-4, 7-11, 11-8, 12-10).
Giulia Takahashi, a talented young athlete out of Brazil, was waiting for Sally Moyland in the U19 Girls’ Singles final.
Moyland finished the event leading in all ITTF stat categories. Points won on own serve (20), and points won on opp. serve (23).
The final match was a 4-0 sweep leading to Sally Moyland’s U19 Girls’ Singles gold medal and the third gold medal of a dominant run by the U19 National Junior Girls Team at the 2022 ITTF Pan American Youth Championships.
