The Singles Championships at the 2022 U.S. Open Table Tennis Champions left little to desire during the showcase on display in the Men’s and Women’s Singles finals.

Amy Wang overcomes budding rivalry with Lily Zhang in the Open Women’s Singles final in Ontario, California. Wang took the match in seven intense games after a repeat championship title was brewing for Zhang.

The two opponents sparred, trading the first games, looking for an opening to attack. Going into game 6, Zhang had won two straight games by large deficits, and the momentum looked in her favor to take the match.

Wang exhibits tenacious resilience throughout her tough matchups yet appeared slightly flustered in the finals, but only for a moment. After a brief meeting with her coach, Corey Eider, she walked out locked in as usual, and that is when everything in the match changed.

Wang was back on top of her game, matching Zhang stroke for stroke and gaining a step as the match finish pushed on towards her gold medal victory. Wang kept the advantage for the rest of the match, securing the impressive victory (11-7, 8-11, 12-10, 4-11, 3-11, 12-10, 11-8).

Lei Kou on the return in the Open Men's Singles at 2022 U.S. Open

Kou Lei Seized the Title of Open Men’s Single Champion with a win against Zhou Xin. Kou repeats as the singles champion with back-to-back U.S. Open Singles wins.

Through the Men's Singles bracket, Kou had a difficult path to the final. He consecutively faced former U.S. Open Champion Tao Wenzhang and Polish Olympian Daniel Gorak in the knockout stages of Open Singles.

Kou Lei was unwavering in the finals with a wire-to-wire win in four games of seven 11-9, 11-6, 11-8, 11-9). Zhou Xin stayed close in three games, yet Kou seemed to have an answer for everything Xin could send his way.

Kou made his second consecutive trip to the Open Men’s Singles Final 2022 U.S. Open Table Tennis Championships just one year removed his singles gold medal at the 2021 U.S. Open in Las Vegas. Entering the final as the heavy favorite with a clear goal in mind; to win, and he did just that.
