Fantastic Two Day Lakeland Table Tennis Tournament

Simpson Park Community Center was the official site of the Florida Orange Blossom Table Tennis Tournament, held on February 25-26, 2022. This wildly popular sport spectacular had sanctioned events for the Unites States Association of Table Tennis, The United States Sandpaper Table Tennis Association and the Super Big Ball Table Tennis Association. Four fabulous scheduled events saw a total of 133 event participants from all over the United States and several foreign nations.

Brad Woodington, the Tournament Director and resident of Lakeland, Florida, noted that participants from Peru, Poland, California, Canada, Georgia, North Carolina, Louisiana, Ohio, and Florida were in attendance. The International flavor of competition was in the air and was welcomed by all.

Lakeland Table Tennis Association has been hosting sanctioned tournaments since 2002, with well over 300 tournaments recorded. More United States Sandpaper tournament events and United States Big Ball tournaments have been held in Lakeland, Florida than any other city in the United States.

Daniel Gorak, from Poland, won the USATT Championship Class going undefeated in the USATT sanctioned tournament. Gorak is currently rated at 2705 and is the seventh highest rated player in the USATT. Gorak participated in the 2016 Olympics in Table Tennis.

Mark Plyler, from Miami, Florida, won both the USSTTA (United States Sandpaper Table Tennis Association) event and the SBBTTA (Super Big Ball Table Tennis Association) event. Plyler is currently rated eight in the world in the SBBTTA and tenth in the world in the USSTTA.
