Matches are Set for Doubles Finals in Charleston

Cadets and Juniors from the Pan Am regions have pushed through the early knockout stage rounds for Boys, Girls, and Mixed Doubles. Brazil, Peru, Puerto Rico, and the USA have advanced to the finals matches scheduled for Sunday, July 30.

United States and Brazil will meet again in the Pan Am finals matchup during the Junior Girls Doubles Championships. TAN Emily/KE Tiffany will be playing for USA, and they'll be taking on TAKAHASHI Giulia/WATANABE Laura of Brazil.

The two teams have some familiarity with one another after meeting in the Junior Teams final earlier this week. In their previous meeting, the nod was in favor of the USA. The doubles aspect will provide an interesting new twist to the match and, if permitted, could be lightheartedly referred to as a rematch.

Peru’s FERNANDEZ Carlos/RUBINOS Adrian advanced through the U19 Boys Doubles knockout rounds. Both sides will meet face-to-face in the finals for a shot at Pan Am gold.

Peru will see its first gold medal match of the event against Puerto Rico, they have fought their way into multiple finals appearances coming out of the Junior Doubles Brackets.

In U19 Mixed Doubles, we have Puerto Rico and the United States in the final. (USA) TSAO Darryl/MOYLAND Sally will encounter (PUR) BIRRIEL Oscar/RODRIGUEZ Alondra for the championship gold.

TSAO Darryl/MOYLAND Sally are both coming off each of their respective U19 Junior Teams Championship victories and will be just eager to collect gold in their next finals.

In the Cadet Girls' Doubles final, LIN Yishiuan/LIU Amber will represent the United States. On the opposite end of the court to represent Brazil is SARDA Mahayla Aime/PINCERATO Gabrielle in the U15 championships.

The Cadet Girls’ Doubles Championship contest has another group of players who became well acquainted with one another in the teams’ event championships. We’ll get to see how the doubles dynamic affects USA and Brazil in their next contest with one another.

The Cadet Boys championship final is hosting Brazil and the United States. The finals will feature ROMANSKI Lucas/FUJII Davi Kojii (Brazil) and GANDHI Krish/USA HSU Stanley (USA).

ROMANSKI and FUJII were able to take gold against the United States in the teams’ championship. It will be compelling to see if that will impact the game from a mental standpoint in the doubles championships.

(BRA) ROMANSKI Lucas/HATAKEYAMA Julia is making their gold medal run in the U15 Mixed Doubles finals versus (USA) GANDHI Krish/ LIU Amber.

For ROMANSKI (Brazil), GHANDI and LIU (USA), this matchup will mark the third finals appearance for the impressive cadets at the 2023 ITTF Pan American Youth Championships.
