LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Jishan Liang and Chengzhu Zhu delivered yet another spectacular performance to claim the U.S. Open Mixed Doubles Championship. The pair defeated Eunjung Ban and Yiran Wu in a best-of-five final, winning 3–1 (6–11, 11–2, 11–7, 11–5).

“The win felt good. We played very well, and the most important thing was that we worked well together,” Liang said after the victory. “Chengzhu has great placement and can put the ball anywhere on the table, which makes it easier for us to finish points.”

Two-time Hong Kong Olympian Zhu was the picture of composure as the new champions adjusted to their opponents’ rhythm. Wu and Ban, a skilled Korean chopper, successfully neutralized Liang and Zhu in the opening game with their unique style. From there, however, Liang and Zhu responded with relentless pressure, varying their tactics and attacking in sequence until they began to consistently break through the defense.

“I’m very happy that we could achieve this result,” Zhu said. “Jishan was an excellent doubles partner. He was very patient and gave me a lot of advice in preparing for how our opponents would try to beat us.”

Despite being a first-time doubles pairing, Liang and Zhu showed remarkable chemistry throughout their finals run. With each match, their complementary styles became more synchronized, and the trust they built in a short time made them look like long-established partners.

Ban and Wu put up a valiant effort to stay in the match but were unable to maintain their defensive control after the opening game. Liang’s power combined with Zhu’s precision proved too much to overcome, ultimately lifting the duo to the top of the podium.

With the mixed doubles title secured, Liang and Zhu set a high standard for the remainder of the tournament. As momentum builds in Las Vegas, attention now turns to the upcoming men’s and women’s singles and doubles events, where more thrilling matches and championship moments are sure to follow.
