Cadet Teams Knockout Stages Take Shape at 2023 ITTF Pan American Youth Championships

The Teams Event at the 2023 ITTF Pan American Youth Championships is underway for the Cadet (U15) and Junior (U19) Athletes at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center in West Virginia.
The Cadets opened tournament play and have progressed through the group stages with eyes on the knockout rounds to be crowned the best in the Pan American Regions as Champions.
To sweeten the victory, the country that takes gold for boys’ and girls’ Cadets will ultimately qualify to compete against the African, Asian, European, and Oceanic regions at the 2023 World Youth Championships on Nov. 26 – Dec. 3, 2023, in Nova Gorica, Slovenia.

Peru and the United States have advanced as top seeds in the semifinal knockout stages of the Cadet Girls’ Teams Event.
Peru managed to fend off Ecuador with a 3-2 match score that was highlighted by a great overall team effort and a decisive fifth matchup when Peru’s GRANADOS CHANG Luciana Andrea bested MENENDEZ BRAVO Maybelline Sheccid of Ecuador in four games (11-6, 11-9, 9-11, and 11-6).
Canada and Ecuador have also progressed through the group stages after two days of competition. In the semifinals, the United States is matched up against Ecuador and Canada will face Peru at the table.

The Cadet Boys’ Teams Event saw Brazil and Puerto Rico have moved out of the group stages as the top seeds.
Neither team dropped a match in the group stages. Both South American teams earned a first-round bye going into the knockout stages of the boys’ quarterfinals.
To start the quarterfinals, Argentina will take on the United States and the winner will advance to play Puerto Rico. Brazil will be awaiting the winner between Canada and Peru for their shot at the Cadet Teams finals.
