In Memory of Dana Hanson

On March 29, 2024, the table tennis community bid farewell to one of its biggest fans, Dana Hanson, who passed away at the age of 74. Dana was not just a player but a cornerstone of VA/MD/NC table Tennis, known for his unwavering dedication and unique approach to the game.

For decades, Dana graced the courts of US Opens and Nationals, leaving an entertaining mark on those who had the pleasure of crossing paddles with him. His sudden departure due to complications from cancer has left a void in the hearts of his inner circle, but his memory will continue to inspire us all.

As the longtime president of the Richmond Table Tennis Club, Dana was a guiding light, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among players of all levels. His warmth and generosity endeared him to everyone he met, and his presence will be sorely missed both on and off the court.

Dana's funeral will be on April 17, 2024 at 10:00 am at Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. Interment will be at 2:00 same day at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, VA 23002
