ONTARIO, Calif. – Kanak Jha and Nandan Naresh have reached the men’s singles championship finals match at the 2025 U.S. National Table Tennis Championships.
Five-time national champion Kanak Jha continued his dominant run with a commanding 4-0 victory over Sean Zhang in the semifinals at 4-0 (12-10, 11-6, 11-8, 11-6). Jha now has the opportunity to win his sixth national singles title and to tie the record for the most U.S. Men’s Singles Championships won. A record that is currently held by David Zhuang.
At just 25 years old, Jha is already regarded as one of the greatest American-born table tennis players, and a sixth national championship could further solidify him in conversations of who is the greatest U.S. male player of all time.
Eighteen-year-old Nandan Naresh earned his first appearance in the men’s singles final after an exhilarating seven-game battle against Jishan Liang. Naresh edged out Liang 4-3 (8-11, 11-5, 11-3, 6-11, 11-8, 11-13, 11-6) to secure his spot in the title match.
The gold medal match between Naresh and Jha is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. PST at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, California. Fans can watch the 2025 U.S. National Men’s Singles Championship live on the USATT YouTube Channel or www.usatt.org.
