Ontario, Calif. – Sally Moyland secured her first women’s singles gold medal at the 2025 U.S. National Table Tennis Championships, defeating two-time national champion Amy Wang 4–1 (11–5, 11–7, 11–8, 2–11, 11–8).

Moyland entered the match well aware of the challenge ahead. She focused on staying aggressive while holding her ground against Wang, preparing mentally to extend rallies and vary the pace of her shots.

Her strategic preparation reflected the respect she has for Wang’s game. “Amy is definitely the final boss. On top of being national champion for the first time, I think being able to beat Amy is one of my biggest achievements,” Moyland said after the match.

The victory marked a major milestone in Moyland’s comeback journey following knee surgery. “The work you need to put in is more than you think you need to, and time flies by fast, so treasure every time you get to train,” she shared.

This was Moyland’s third finals appearance in women’s singles and her second time facing Wang in a championship match. At just 18 years old and only a year removed from injury, the Fremont, California native has now etched her name into the history books as a U.S. National Women’s Singles Champion.
